Happy Monday!
It’s my birthday week (: What better gift could I ask for than a King Kylie return? As a girl who was glued to Tumblr and Snapchat in high school, I am eating up this comeback. It also makes me feel like this.
Also in today’s newsletter: backlash toward Trisha Paytas’ Broadway announcement, the Boss & CEO needs our help, Hasan Piker dog collar fallout continues, Clairo finds her subreddit, and more. Plus, a Saturn Return playlist for my 27th birthday (even though I’m not technically entering mine for a bit). Mwah!!!

King Kylie you will always be famous
After teasing a return to form last year, Kylie Jenner is bringing King Kylie back in earnest.
For those who weren’t overlining their mouths with Kylie Cosmetics lip kits in 2015, King Kylie was the blueprint for many 2010s teens just getting into makeup. This was, perhaps, Jenner’s most iconic and influential era. With vibrant dip-dyed hair, massive sunglasses, and a big pout, King Kylie had the girls selling out her matte liquid lipsticks in seconds.
In true Kardashian fashion, the youngest Jenner is skilled at capitalizing on what’s trending. With sustained nostalgia over the 2010s and the 10 year anniversary of Kylie Cosmetics happening in tandem, fans are primed for King Kylie’s return. What better way to cash in on this than with new Kylie Cosmetics makeup products?
The rollout, which incorporates fan-favorite iconography and a sequel to a 2016 gloss launch video, has been well-received. The choice to first launch the King Kylie comeback on Snapchat, the platform where this era began, doubles down on the nostalgia over this time.
“Snapchat will always feel like home to me,” Jenner said in a release. “It’s where I first really got to talk to my fans and share my life in real time–all the big moments, the little ones, everything. I’ve captured so many memories there, and I’m so excited to be back to celebrate 10 years of Kylie Cosmetics with everyone who’s been part of this journey.”
The King Kylie collection launches Oct. 18. I’ll be curious to see if it sells out. It looks like she’s bringing back some cult favs and built the entire line off of what fans wanted the most. If Jenner singlehandedly brings back liquid lipsticks… beware of dry lips, folks.
Trisha Paytas is coming to Broadway
Okay am I…. The only person that remembers everything that she’s done??? Like she’s not a good person and it’s now moving from “haha Internet personality can’t sing but she does and it’s funny” to “given roles in Broadway” I am so confused

Trisha Paytas, the problematic queen of YouTube, will be making her Broadway debut as Maxine Dean in Beetlejuice starting in November. A lot of people are not happy about this decision.
Paytas is iconic — there’s no denying that! However, she has done and said a lot of bad things over her nearly 20 years online. Obviously, no one is perfect and everyone has the capacity to change. In all fairness, Paytas has demonstrated a desire and willingness to do better over the years, especially as she has found stability and started a family.
Still, over the past year in particular, it feels like there’s been a bit of a whitewashing of her persona and work. This is the person that created a racist Japanese caricature, “came out” as a chicken nugget among other transphobic stunts, faked a DID diagnosis, made antisemitic comments, and much more. I found it odd that she has found enthusiastic, vocal fans in people like Katy Perry and Chappell Roan. While I don’t think she deserves Trishyland levels of hate and scrutiny, she also doesn’t necessarily deserve a Broadway role either. Although, who is to decide when or how much a person has atoned for their past sins enough to transcend them? That is the eternal question online.
We all know that cancellation does not mean your career is over. But Paytas, like all formerly cancelled influencers, will always have to answer for their past. In fact, since the Broadway news was announced, she has had to address a number of her past actions and her previous remarks about Palestinians. Under a critical video calling her out for these things, Paytas denied speaking negatively toward Palestinians.
Paytas, whose husband Moses Hacmon is Israeli, has previously said she was “for Israel not Palestine” and dressed up as an IDF soldier. On other occasions, she has also said she is “Team Palestine.” Just the other day, she donated $5,000 to get Palestinians in Gaza medical assistance. In typical Paytas fashion, people aren’t totally sure where she stands or what she has learned. As a result, there’s been backlash toward her recent cultural ascendence.
Under that same video above, Paytas acknowledged that she has done a lot of harm in her past and understood that she will always have to work on rebuilding trust.
“I will never ever stop apologizing for my wrong doings,” she commented. “I can only move forward, be better, and use my voice and money to help all those communities I deeply care [about].”
Her full comments can be seen below.

Paytas will be in Beetlejuice from Nov. 4 to 23.

Other things I want to share with you.
Mainly Mannie, best known for playing the Boss & CEO, recently shared that he unknowingly contracted HIV from a former partner, which has progressed to AIDS. He lost the ability to walk but has been improving. He set up a GoFundMe to help pay for his medication, which costs $4,000 a month. Luckily, the Boss & CEO’s elite employees have been showing up!
Hasan Piker has proven that he does not abuse his dog — yet the fallout continues. Yap Year oomfie Moises Mendez II broke down the situation if you want to check that out. The latest development in this saga is that Piker’s friend and fellow streamer Pokimane seemingly cancelled his episode on her podcast Short n’ Sweet with LilyPichu. However, she revealed that the cancellation announcement was posted without her approval. Now, the co-hosts are taking a hiatus to reconsider the structure of the show.
Speaking of podcasts, Marc Maron’s final episode of WTF has been released. What better way to send off one of the OG pods than having one of its most iconic guests return? That’s right, Barack Obama is the last guest ever on WTF — about a decade after his first (iconic!) interview on the show.
Louis Tomlinson got very candid about family grief, One Direction, and losing Liam Payne on the Diary of a CEO podcast.
John Oliver criticized Bari Weiss’ appointment as editor-in-chief of CBS News in the most recent episode of his show.
Clairo found her subreddit and posted a message to her fans urging them to stop sexualizing her. She said: “honestly I’m pretty shocked and horrified at the shape of this place. A lot of you are really nice. Like suuuuuper nice and perfect!! I love all your drawings, your rankings, your opinions on music and inspiration .. that stuff is so beautiful and it means the world to me. But A lot of you are obsessed with sex and my body and are super freaky.” She said she’d get the community taken down if the members didn’t stop. Good reminder that people can see what you write about them online! Don’t be weird.
Honor Diane Keaton today by getting some chic menswear and watching First Wives Club.
