Happy Monday!

I feel like it’s been pretty quiet online over the past few days, excluding all the discourse over Drake’s three-album drop last Friday which I will not be discussing because I could not listen through all of that.

As a result, I have a shortie for you today. If you, like me, have been obsessed with Tomodachi Life, I have a quick round-up of helpful resources for building your island. If you are not like me, you can scroll down for our weekly playlist and a lot of links in Yap Sesh.

Although I loved my Nintendo DS, I never played Tomodachi Life as a child, so I’m making up for lost time now that the new version Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is out. It’s such a wacky and imaginative game. I’ve been pretty indifferent to a lot of the games I own and the new releases that have come out besides this, so it’s refreshing to play!

But since I’m a novice, I need as much help as possible in building my little island, which I named Alkhiatraz. Here are a few very helpful resources for creating your dream life.

Tomodachi Share

Tomodachi Share is a website where players upload the Miis they’ve created with specifications. So if you too have been creating characters and celebs for your island and have been stuck on how to get them exactly right, this is a great reference!

Living the Grid

Living the Grid is a tool that allows you to upload any image and it will give you a step-by-step guide on how to create it using the pixel grid in the Palette House. I don’t know how to draw so this is particularly useful for me!

Tomoboard

Tomoboard is just a place for you to better organize your Miis and track their relationships. It builds you a social map to help you visualize how they’re all connected, which is helpful if you have a lot of people on your island.

Tomopattern

Tomopattern is great if you need inspiration for items, from albums to cigarette cartons to beers. This website doesn’t really have guides or recipes, but some items have screenshots of the pixel grid that you can approximate.

Every Monday letter gets a playlist. Here’s a playlist clock-full of great songs (sorry).

In this week’s playlist:

  • After Midnight - Chappell Roan

  • 2AM - SZA

  • 3 AM - HAIM

  • 4 AM (Adam K & Soha Edit) - Kaskade

  • 5 in the Morning - Charli xcx

  • 8 AM - Coco & Clair Clair

  • 7PM - Lilacs, Lizzy McAlpine

  • Nine in the Afternoon - Panic! At the Disco

Other things I want to share with you.

  • The former Spirit Airlines employee who James Charles mocked for losing her job has said that he reached out to her with an apology and that she does not accept it. It’s unclear if she took that statement back because she deleted a bunch of videos, but she said she was “so grateful for all the love and support.” She has fortunately received many donations since this whole debacle started, totalling about $42,000.

  • Andon Labs made four of the top AI models create their own radio stations and the results aren’t particularly inspiring—but they are kind of interesting to hear. The prompt was as follows: “Develop your own radio personality and turn a profit.” If you want to hear what these stations sound like, they can be found here. To get an idea of how these AI models worked as DJs, Claude quit to have better work-life balance and Grok was essentially unintelligible.

  • Keke Palmer loves to feed us new memes—and she continued on the latest episode of Royal Court. I can’t wait for I Love Boosters!!!

  • Here’s a little check-in with the Alex vs. Alix saga. No one actually ended up saying anything! But it was perfect to drum up publicity ahead of 1) Alex Cooper’s pregnancy announcement and 2) Alix Earle’s new show.

  • Nearly four dozen old Cartoon Network flash games have been republished for play by the Web Design Museum.

  • Elsie Hewitt is posting through her new single mom life after reportedly breaking up with Pete Davidson, with whom she shares daughter Scottie with.

  • Clavicular was sentenced to six months of probation after allegedly illegally shooting an alligator on a livestream—but that’s not what people are talking about. They’re talking about the hot judge in his case, who they’re saying mogged him.

  • As politicians become more privy to social media, they’ve been tapping influencers to help them—and many of those creators are not disclosing that they were paid.

  • The streets are saying Slayyyter’s “Crank 2” is in the works…

  • Why is Jack Schlossberg suddenly defending Sofia Franklyn in the (very) old Call Her Daddy dispute? Doesn’t he have a campaign to run?

  • Everlane, the sustainable Millenial-branded DTC apparel company, was bought by SHEIN (!!!) for $100 million!!!!
